MacBook Air 2013 boot menu doesn't display Lubuntu USB installation instructions.
Hello everyone! My project to install a portable Lubuntu USB keeps moving forward. I just managed to set up Lubuntu on my 128 GB Samsung USB 3.1 drive. The USB booted into Lubuntu and ran its usual functions: DG45ID, Intel Celeron 450 processor, 8 GB DDR2 at 800 MHz, and the AMD RX 470 chipset. The 4 GB RAM was also working fine. This confirmed that the installation went well since the only thing connected was the USB. Now I’m facing a challenge. My goal is to have a USB that can be used on any computer to launch Lubuntu easily, so I can access my programs and files directly. Since I’m often traveling, being able to carry a working USB is really helpful. I tried booting into Lubuntu on my MacBook Air 2013, but pressing the option key only showed the two native installations on the SSD—Mac and Windows 10. I’m still learning about computer systems, so I reached out for advice from more experienced folks. It seems the Mac doesn’t recognize the USB as it should, even though Easy2Boot detects it and boots into a mini OS. I’m not sure what’s happening, but maybe it’s related to EFI/UEFI settings. I don’t understand how Lubuntu or the Mac actually boots, just that Easy2Boot registers as an EFI disk. I hope this gives us some direction for troubleshooting. I’m open to third-party tools for a quick fix, but I’d also appreciate any insights on what might be wrong. Please let me know if you can point me in the right forum thread. Thanks a lot!
