mac os help
I'm assisting a friend with his computer troubleshooting. The main issue was a nearly full hard drive, but he claims to rarely save much on his MacBook Pro. I checked some of his folders—like music and photos—to confirm his story. He was honest. After restarting the machine, it booted up smoothly, showing the Apple logo followed by a loading bar with the spinning wheel. After about 5 to 10 minutes, the computer powered off. I tried pressing Command+Option+P+R, holding Shift during startup sound, and pressing Command+R, but none worked. Since he's not familiar with Windows, I'm considering downloading iTunes to try a fix. Let me know what you think!
I don't understand, look in the temp folder. My laptop had more than 250GB of data because I was rendering and saving all the files.
Run the Linux live USB from ~ and clear the temp directory contents.
Sure, try connecting the HDD to a different PC and look for the Temp folder there.
Use Unetbootin to generate a live USB. You can install any of the "light" operating systems like Peppermint, Puppy Linux, Damn Small Linux or Xubuntu. Make sure you have another computer available where you can connect the HDD to clear temporary files. Remember that Windows won’t be able to read Mac OSX files, so consider using a different Mac or Linux machine.
I receive a notification stating that the USB device cannot be powered off on a Mac.
