m5a97 r2.0 fx 8320 overclocking tips
Hey guys.
I'm using an M5A97 R2.0 with FX 8320, default clock at 3.5 GHz. I want it to run at 4.2 GHz but can't get there. I've tried a few OC builds online, but they're not stable. When I run Prime95 with a Small FFT test, my system freezes after a few minutes or core crashes, though temperatures are normal and not extremely high. I'm not very experienced with OC settings, so maybe I'm doing something wrong with the BIOS. If anyone has the same motherboard, could you share your BIOS settings? Or do you have any suggestions for this issue?
My full spec:
Windows 10
GPU R9 290
16 GB 2x8 DDR3 RAM at 1600 MHz
FX 8320
3 HDD + 1 SSD
CM Hyper 212 LED Turbo CPU Cooler
4 Case Fans
CM 750W Bronze Power Supply
You cannot simply paste someone's settings and expect it to function properly.
You must determine the stable CPU configuration for yourself.
If instability persists, increasing the CPU voltage is likely necessary, unless other adjustments have been made.
ShadyHamster:
You can't just copy someone's settings and expect it to work.
You'll need to determine where your CPU performs best on its own.
If your system is unstable, you probably need higher CPU voltage, unless you're only adjusting CPU settings.
I've tried very high voltage before. Some use this for 4.5GHz+, but my system fails at 4.2GHz already. That's why I'm searching for a solution.
