Using an OEM license comes with the EULA restrictions tied to the specific motherboard you installed Windows on. It seems the connection to your Microsoft account isn't a factor, though updating the motherboard drivers is usually sufficient. In some cases, you might not be able to use certain peripherals, but reinstalling is only practical if you have an external storage device ready.

I obtained an OEM key from a key reseller, changed the board from a Z370 to a Z390 and updated the CPU from 8086k to 9900k. When Windows asked to reactivate, I simply used the same key and it worked correctly again.
