I removed a Wi-Fi card from my old laptop and noticed it fits into my M.2 slot. It won’t occupy the entire slot, but I can connect it to my desktop. Should it function that way?

Unless you can place the antenna in their area, I wouldn't suggest it. For Wi-Fi, consider a 12 dollar TP-Link USB adapter or a 30 dollar TP-Link PCIe card if you need it urgently.

The antennas are linked via cables, allowing you to position them at the top or back of the enclosure. I also have a Wi-Fi card, though it operates only on the 2.4 GHz band.

That is actually a very good question. And honestly i don't know if it will work, but.. I don't think it will, because the M.2 slot is made for an entierly diffrent reason. But hey. Give us a shout if it works

The M.2 port labeled for NVMe can function similarly to U.2 if the connector orientation and placement match correctly.

It might cause significant harm... For the card I mean.

Maybe... However, if you don't attempt it, you won't possess magic blue smoke.

Failed attempt; honestly, I’m just hoping to resolve the PSU coil whine issue next time.
