I just purchased an MSI MGP B550 gaming plus to go with a Ryzen 7 5800X. I also bought a new power supply, the MSI Mag 750W. There was an issue when I installed my M.2 SSD in slot 1 with the lighting Gen 2—my PC didn’t boot at all. When I switched it to slot 2, everything worked fine. Additionally, I’m having trouble getting any HDD to start up. I currently have one M.2 SSD and a 2.5 SSD, both functioning properly, but neither powers on. Could it be the wrong cables or a problem with the motherboard?

Are you referring to PCIe 4.0? Also, did the computer fail to start with the M.2 SSD in slot 1 NVMe, or was it simply unable to recognize it? Ensure power cables are securely attached to both the drive and your power supply to confirm all connectors are properly seated.

PCI 4 connection isn't working, and I've verified the cables several times—even used the older ones, but it didn't help.

The NVMe port appears to indicate a hardware issue. With the HDD, certain motherboards may turn off SATA connections when an M.2 SSD is present. Consider using another SATA port for the HDD.

I experimented with various ports but got nothing. The issue is the HDD doesn’t even start, while the SSD is connected identically.

Needed to modify for compatibility with the latest CPU and ensure it's running the most recent update

No, I didn't plug the GPU into the first PCIe slot.

Are you certain the hard drive is functioning properly? It should spin up even without a data connection.
