Hey everyone, just checking in with some thoughts about the title setup. I own an Aorus 3080 Master and it's a bit compact. The M2A slot is already occupied by a Gen 4 nVME drive, and I'm planning to add another nVME to the M2B slot.

1) If I opt for a more affordable Gen 3 nVME, will it impact the performance of my GPU and the boot process for that nVME? Since I've already enabled Gen 4 in the BIOS, would choosing Gen 3 affect detection or slow down everything to that lower version? If I switch to AUTO mode, would all devices then default to Gen 3, making it the standard option?

2) The M2B slot is right next to the powerful GPU, which already uses up a lot of space. Even with the heat spreader, could it cause overheating?

It varies by your motherboard, but unless you're using threadripper or a specific model like X299, your lower M.2 slot should already support Gen 3 speeds. This is due to the bottom slot being linked to the chipset instead of the CPU, which uses a different bus—so adjusting the UEFI settings shouldn't impact it. It won't lead to detection problems either. Keeping the PCIe speed in your UEFI set to Gen 4 is recommended for optimal performance. As long as you remove the thermal putty from the M.2 heatsink, overheating won't occur.
