What does that mean? There aren't any options in the bios. The SSD will perform just as advertised.

It should default to x4, unless you've recently added a large number of PCIe expansion cards.

Placing your SSD in the closest M.2 slot to the CPU ensures it starts at full speed without any setup needed. Adjusting the mode via BIOS will control performance, and setting it to auto mode will let it run efficiently. Using SATA mode will slow it down.
