M.2 mounting solution without screw holes
M.2 mounting solution without screw holes
This device is an Orange Pi 5 with its M.2 PCIe 2.0 slot compatible for 2230 and 2242 form factors. You might observe that the standoff hole lacks a threaded design. It features a USB 3.1 to NVMe adapter, which includes a fixed standoff for the M.2 2280 model but also provides non-threaded slots for 2260, 2242 and 2230 variants. The seller shipped these kits along with a set of screws for non-threaded standoffs. I'm searching for ways to acquire additional sets. I've looked on Google, visited multiple online stores, and even consulted ChatGPT for suggestions, but nothing came up. When I reached out to the adapter's manufacturer, we discussed several points: (1) these kits are included with the adapter; (2) they're only sold with the adapter; (3) I should search Amazon for them. Many non-threaded M.2 screw kits require threaded holes. At this stage, I'm considering posting here first or on Reddit. I chose to start here. Thank you for your time and help. you need a press nut like this... though that’s just for the picture. https://www.spaldingfasteners.co.uk/self...inc-m3-m8/ the reason it’s missing is because it’s in the standard spot. you can push it out and install it where you need it permanently, since pressing it too many times before it loosens isn’t recommended. they’re left out because it won’t fit with a regular NME. but as I mentioned... push it out and place it where you want.
Well, it could possibly work, but there would be a protrusion at the bottom of the board preventing it from fitting into most or any cases. You won’t find any nuts in the holes on the Orange Pi 5, as shown in that photo. ---- The kit shown with three components functions perfectly on the OP5, though I’d prefer to purchase more of them.
The product I looked for was a "m.2 rubber standoff." It seems compatible with the Orico NVME enclosure, or stacking VHB tape could work as an alternative.
