Hi there, today I began my trusted Elden Ring on my system without any hardware changes in four years. After five minutes it bluescreened and rebooted with an error message. After restarting, my M2 SSD disappeared (I have two M2 drives—one for OS and one for games/programs—in OS/Device Manager etc.). In the BIOS it was also missing. I considered the drive might be dead or possibly related to the motherboard (not the motherboard slot), but I found online instructions suggesting a power cycle: enter BIOS, run 30 minutes, then shut down for 30 seconds, and re-enter BIOS for another 30 minutes. I tried this without expecting success and, to my relief, the second drive came back! Now I’m double-checking everything again after reboot. Device Manager and disk management showed no issues, and I could even view and browse files. However, during the ultimate test of starting Elden Ring exactly as before, the same problem occurred. I’m currently performing a second powercycle to see if the drive will recover. So… is the drive just dead? (It’s not a major issue and fits my usual outcome) or could another factor be responsible? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 🙏👀

Did you perform a health check on your M2? How does it report?

Crystal disk appears to be functioning properly. Would you have any ideas for alternative solutions or software? I'm sure it might not be related to the motherboard.

The Samsung magician failed to finish the test due to issues, resulting in a toast ssd result 👍
