Consider using the heatsink already attached to your Patriot Viper VPN100 SSD, as it’s designed for that specific device. Using the motherboard’s heatsink might not be optimal.

If possible, take off the motherboard heatsink and install the SSD heatsink instead. The SSD heatsink is designed for the drive and would be ideal for that purpose. It also provides a more attractive appearance for cooling.

I believe the SSD with additional fins will perform better because of the increased surface area.
