It was supposed to mention the ASUS Maximus XII formula, but it wasn't included.

This setup supports three M.2 slots and has sufficient SATA ports even if they are turned off

Think about reviewing the motherboard manual to identify potential issues, Ty.

You should definitely have at least two ports remaining, which means six is fine. It’s hard to say for sure if the ports will be disabled on that board.

I was most worried about the PCIe X4 being turned off because it wasn’t used much until recently

Choose between SATA or NVMe. Using m.2_2 removes ports 5 and 6, leaving four SATA ports. m.2_3 blocks the bottom PCIe x4 slot, meaning you must place the Elgato in the second x16 slot (which is actually x8). This setup forces the GPU in the first x16 slot to operate at x8 as well.

Samsung 970 EVO PLUS 2TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD is the specific type you're looking for. Your GPU is in the top slot, and the Elgato is in the bottom slot based on your motherboard reference from the ASUS website.
