Hey everyone, I received an M1 MacBook Air and the owner is having trouble with the iCloud account. It keeps stating that the Apple ID isn<|pad|>, even after I reset the account or password. Signing out requires entering a password to enable "Find My Mac," but when I type it in, it shows the same error. I’m curious if a factory reset will lock the device and require me to log in with the problematic account to unlock it, similar to what happens with iPhones or iPads. I’m not sure about this new model, but I don’t want to make it unusable by resetting it.

No, keep it as is. Resetting will cause issues with the Apple ID screen.

The optimal action here is to visit an apple center and have them take it out, though this might need proof of ownership.

It seems a two-hour conversation with customer service resolved the issue, the owner said. Initially she visited the Apple Center, but they advised her to return to the store where she purchased it since the shop had set up her iCloud account.
