Is this secure? When I run Minecraft on it, it jumps straight to 100C and doesn’t cool down. I understand 100C is way beyond what most PC components can handle, so I’m checking if this is safe. Most online communities don’t even report the M1 MBA reaching over 80C.

We typically check temperatures at around 100°C, which works well for CPU readings. Most laptops handle this without any problems.

Consider purchasing TG Pro to control the fan speed yourself. I also noticed my Mac Mini M1 gets quite warm at times and doesn’t seem to increase the fan beyond around 20%. By adjusting it just below the sound level of about 40%, it now stays in the 65-75°C range while running Folding@Home. I’m puzzled about Apple’s design—why build a fan that can reach such high speeds but then restricts it well below the audible threshold?

Silence indicates high quality. The fewer chances you have to hear it, the better. That’s why they often use slower fans in laptops so that even at full speed you won’t notice them.

These temperatures are typical because the system is passively cooled. Users have enhanced it by inserting a thermal pad and linking the CPU cooler to the rear. The case still gets warm, but overall it stays cooler, leading to improved performance during extended tasks.

This raises questions about the need for a high-speed fan that can cap at 2000RPM, especially since lowering it to 2600RPM causes a significant temperature drop of 10-20°C. Of course, on a Macbook Air this is normal behavior—it tends to overheat. It seems unlikely anyone would purchase a fanless system expecting stable performance outside the maximum load, as these designs are built to throttle under stress.
