Hey there! I'd be happy to assist you. It sounds like you're having trouble setting up Lubuntu on your old ThinkPad. Since you're new to Linux, let's try a few simple steps: First, make sure your system meets the requirements—Lubuntu needs at least 300 MB RAM and a Pentium 3 processor. You might want to check the official Lubuntu documentation for compatibility details. If you're using CD-RW, ensure the drive is clean and properly formatted before installation. Let me know if you need help with any specific command or configuration!

Files are still loading, you might want to use a USB drive instead of a CD. It would be much quicker and avoid the risk of it getting damaged. I’m not sure what’s actually causing the delay, but testing with a USB is usually a safe approach—it could definitely help fix the issue.

You don't satisfy the necessary conditions. 256MB equals only half of 512MB.

It doesn’t support booting from USB. I’ve been confused about why it wouldn’t work on a USB until I understood the issue.

Yes, though the distribution is light and claims it functions even without it, the Pentium 3 operates at 850 megahertz, satisfying the criteria.

The specifications show Ubuntu is installed on Lubuntu. That’s quite efficient. Your machine doesn’t? You’re right—many older laptops ran Linux distributions on much simpler hardware. Just use the tool “win32diskimager” to create a bootable USB, then connect it via USB and set the BIOS to treat it as an HDD rather than an external drive. Adjust the boot order and restart.

By default, clicking browse searches for image files, but choosing "all files" lets you access an ISO.
