Lowest price for a Ryzen 5 4650G motherboard.
Start assembling a gaming PC by replacing your aging laptop. Upgrade to a Ryzen 5 4650G processor and source a suitable motherboard. Search for budget-friendly options while ensuring compatibility.
You can find a B450/A520 model around $60, but I wouldn't highly recommend it. For better value, consider spending roughly $80 to get a motherboard with solid VRM and improved expansion options. The MSI B450-A PRO Max is a solid choice at $80 with a mail-in rebate; it offers decent VRM, supports ZEN 2, and you might be able to update the BIOS without needing to replace the CPU, memory, or GPU if required.
Budget is limited to 400€, which means I'm really constrained, and I'm sure I won't upgrade anytime soon (probably until it fails).
Disappointing decision overall. Affordable CPUs and GPUs have consistently been a better option for gaming. Also, achieving reasonable performance with this APU would require a substantial amount of expensive RAM, which isn't budget-friendly.
But why an APU then? You're spending money on integrated graphics that you won't even use. Get a reasonably affordable CPU without graphics, a budget motherboard, and save as much as possible for the GPU – that's what matters most for games. It'll be too slow and small. Keep in mind, RAM will also act like VRAM if you're using an APU.
I'm using the extra VRAM to enhance performance and smoothness during processing.
