Lower score in CPU-Z ?
At first, my used i3-12100F scored 689 on the single thread, but now it caps around 650. The multi-thread score is similar but only a few points lower. I'm using the same BIOS, everything remains consistent, and my Windows version has changed from 10 to 11 via h61-q87-h610. It might not be just the BIOS or Windows that's changed—I upgraded from rx590 to rtx 5050, so what might be affecting the results?
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.
I am on the same bios same everything and my windows install is very old it started as windows 10 and now 11 through using h61-q87-h610 now so it's probably not the only thing that changed I upgraded from rx590 to rtx 5050
You might want to pass on all the upgrades you've done. To add, did you reinstall the OS after your final motherboard swap? If not, that's what you need to do, by recreating your bootable USB installer for Windows 11, installing it in offline mode, with all drives disconnected except for the drive you wish to install the OS onto. Install all relevant drivers with the latest versions in an elevated command while in offline mode.
My guess too is old windows installation. Microsoft makes windows to work with quite obsolete SW and HW for compatibility so if old SW is not fully uninstalled (standard uninstaller leaves a lot of "dirt" behind which includes shared DLL and system configuration files). Usually, just a clean installation does the job but there's one interim way that may help, It's called "In place upgrade", Basically it replaces all system files with brand new "virgin" default files without loss of personal files, programs and settings. It's worth trying.

Using the balanced power plan still gives lower temperatures, with VRM temps staying under 39°C, which is unusual.
I'll attempt the upgrade method I'm familiar with; a fresh installation is always preferable, but that's not available to me.
Is the CPU-z version identical? Like other benchmark programs, the procedures evolve with updates, making comparisons between versions generally unreliable.
A new setup is always available.
It might not be the one you wish to adopt, but it remains an alternative.
And the optimal choice for a fully functional system.
