I'm testing an i5-10400 on an ASUS Prime B460M-A. I bought a 16GB Crucial Ballistix kit (2 x 8GB) DD4-3200, which was priced similarly to the 2666 model. You're aware that Intel limited the RAM speed for this chipset to 2666MHz, and because I'm using a B-series board, I can't use the full 3200MHz. The BIOS automatically adjusts the RAM speed to 2666MHz and fixes it. My concern is... can I still optimize the timing settings to match lower frequencies? The kit's specs list timing options at 1600, 1466.7, 1333.3 MHz. Can I safely set the BIOS timing to 14-15-15-30 instead? Shouldn't the BIOS already handle that automatically? If it changes the frequency, does it rely on those timings? hwinfo shows the timing is now set to 19-19-19-43... Is this possible? Why would the BIOS make such a change when dropping from 3200 to 2666MHz?
