low voltage i5 6600k
low voltage i5 6600k
I increased my i5 6600k to 4.6ghz and adjusted the vcore to 1.285 in manual mode without making any other changes. Everything seems stable during stress tests and gameplay, but I observed some inconsistencies. When playing games, voltage fluctuates between 1.220 and 1.290, whereas during stress tests with Prime95 or RealBench it drops to 1.170–1.230. The CPU-Z reports idle voltage at 0.800 even in manual mode, which is unexpected. Shouldn’t the voltage remain steady at 1.285 whether idle or under load when using manual mode? This raises questions about the stability of my setup.
The impact of disabling speedstep is your CPU continues to run without slowing down, and the Vcore remains high to match the processor speed. I adjusted mine by keeping speedstep active and modifying power settings in the control panel, offering options like High Performance, Balanced, and Power Saver. Concerning Vcore and VID, I've been told to keep an eye on Vcore.
I disabled C-STATE, but couldn't turn off the t-probe. I found "CPU Power Duty Control" set to "T.probe" and changed it to "Extreme," while my motherboard lacks a "High" LLC setting but offers levels from 1 to 7. I set it to 6. CPUZ and HWMonitor still show VID at 0.800 during idle, but Vcore stays between 1.280 and 1.296. Should I focus on VID or Vcore?
So I disabled Speedstep and now my VID stays between 1.220 and 1.296 at idle, remains the same during games, and drops to 1.170 to 1.230 under stress tests, but the CPU is running at 4600Mhz even when idle. Is that typical? Also, my Vcore is holding steady around 1.280 to 1.296. Should I focus on watching the VID or the Vcore?

So if i have to monitor vcore then everything is ok, but there is one more problem. I don't know why but my HWMonitor is not showing me things like fan speeds and voltages. It only shows them if I open HWMonitor right after Windows boots up into desktop. If I open HWMonitor when Windows has fully loaded it isn't showing them. Any ideas what may be causing that?
