Low voltage designs for VDD, VDDG, and SOC circuits
I'm working on adjusting the overclock settings for your Viper Steel 32GB DDR4 system. I'm seeking guidance on appropriate safe voltages for these specific timings and checking if there are additional voltage parameters to consider. Your setup includes a Ryder 5 5600 with stock cooler, 32GB DDR4, and the power supply is a 6700xt. The link you provided points to your product details. Let me know if you need further help!
VDDP and VDDG are generally fine on their own; the board usually handles them well. You don’t need to adjust them too much—aim for the sweet spot, which is hard to hit but usually gives you solid performance. SOC voltage works best around 1.1V to 1.2V, with 1.2V being the upper limit to avoid excessive chip activity. Set it near 1.15V and you should be in a good range for peak performance.
Setting SOC to 1.15-1.2 might raise your CPU temperatures noticeably.
It actually uses very little power compared to the rest of the chip, making its impact hard to notice. The SOC typically draws around 20W when operating normally, so raising the voltage slightly would only increase it marginally to about 22W—essentially negligible.
