Hey everyone! I wanted to share some thoughts about my experience with PUBG. I've been dealing with stuttering lately, and I thought upgrading my CPU fixed it, but the problem persists—especially in fights and crowded zones. After checking, my GPU usage seems inconsistent, and I noticed it's not running as smoothly as expected. I’ve also overclocked it, which might be contributing. I’m curious if a failing hard drive could be the culprit. Here’s a screenshot of the GPU usage during gameplay: https://imgur.com/a/MnEJGYg. My system specs include an i5-4460, GTX 750 OC, 8GB DDR3, a 1TB HDD spinning at 7,200 RPM, and 107GB free space.
I don't believe the hard drive is the issue. My PC has PUGB on my HDD and it's performing well at 60fps with high settings, using both GPU and CPU at their limits. It seems the problem might be with the GPU, as it frequently reaches full usage.
I never considered it that way! Thanks everyone! This card only uses 1GB of VRAM. I’ll also look into the VRAM usage this time. It could definitely be the main reason for the lag, especially in crowded areas. Plus, it slows down when I switch my view and when I have to move to an enemy position—it’s really frustrating.
Updated: Apologies if it's too late to update this post. I’ve installed HD Sentinel and found that my main drive is no longer functioning properly—about 8 days left at 8% health, even though the performance label shows 100%. My suspicion is it’s failing due to multiple bad sectors and transfer errors, as shown in the attached report. I moved the PUBG game files to another drive, which still works well and has a much longer lifespan. This is surprising since it’s older and has lasted years while this one hasn’t. I plan to test other games later to see if there are any noticeable differences. Additionally, I’ve observed significant stutters and frame drops in Miramar, which is a larger map with more data to load. Let me know if that’s correct.
The issue I'm experiencing is a recurring problem across different configurations—whether using SLI, single GPU, SSD, HDD RAID 0, live or experimental versions, new or old drivers, windowed or fullscreen settings, GSync enabled or disabled, or after reinstalling Windows. It seems to stem from developers focusing more on adding loot crates than fixing bugs and improving performance.
Great start! I kept my PC in good shape and didn’t notice any strange background processes affecting the CPU or GPU. I thought about reinstalling Windows because of all the clutter, but I went ahead and defrag it just in case. It seems like the issue might be a VRAM bottleneck—after playing for a while, Miramar really struggles compared to Erangel, even though Miramar is about half the size. I guess it’s more about the overall GPU limitation. Thanks for the update!
RIP all those optimizations and microtransactions. Servers in AS and SEA are really slow right now, and I suspect my ISP might be the problem.
