Increasing threads doesn't improve the game in CSGO; keep it at the default setting. It negatively affected performance on my Phenom, leading to stuttering at high FPS.

The variation is between day and night. Switching from 1 core to 4 doubled my FPS.

I'm really questioning this idea—it would help AMD more than any Intel CPU. The multi-core render already covers what you're trying to achieve; beyond that, extra threads don't add value past a certain point. If you're using an APU, it makes sense, and I can demonstrate strong performance improvements by lowering the thread count.

I'm using a laptop. Changed from 1 core at 2.6GHz to 4 cores at 2.6GHz, and my 860M usage rose from 60% to 100%.

It's a portable CPU that performs better than my Phenom, but it has a lower TDP and isn't as thermally efficient. As mentioned, a less powerful CPU should help more; FX and Phenom aren't fast enough. My 580 never reaches maximum power regardless of the settings I apply.

I wouldn't be concerned, my card is around 50% used, and it can spike up to 65% during peak times. It's nothing to worry about—I wasn't sure why this change was happening if I used to get full usage before.

580 operates quicker than an 860M processor, which equals 560 Ti.
