low GPU usage in all games
i experience consistently low gpu usage, but I’m unable to pinpoint the issue. i have a gtx 1070, an i7 6700k, 16gb ram (corsair 2100mhz or 3000mhz not remembered), a 550 gold seasonic psu, 1tb hard drive, and 7200rpm hard drive. in games like bf5 i see around 30% gpu usage, cpu usage is about 80%, rust shows roughly 50% each, minecraft is 10%, rocket league is 30%. it seems the performance varies widely across different games. is this a bottleneck?
BF5 demands a lot of CPU power, particularly on a 64-player server. You might want to search for game-specific adjustments to lower the load. For other titles, here are your FPS numbers: Minecraft is not well optimized, Rocket League isn't demanding much, and Rust doesn't heavily tax your CPU. It seems like Vsync or another FPS limiter is in use.
BF5 is recognized for its high CPU demand and excessive CPU usage can lead to reduced GPU performance.
Not well versed in Rust enough to form a reliable prediction.
These titles require minimal GPU workloads for rendering.
Yes and no. When a game fully utilizes the CPU, it creates a CPU bottleneck. If some CPU resources are used, the outcome varies. The game might depend on single-core speed or have sufficient CPU power to handle logic while the GPU smoothly processes the visuals. Many games aren't built to run at peak speeds, as doing so becomes inefficient and challenging across different systems.
just trying to figure out what might be behind the FPS increases
