Low frame rates in games where I used to achieve 60 or more frames per second.
Low frame rates in games where I used to achieve 60 or more frames per second.
I recently installed an optical drive on my computer and discovered I could utilize the driver CD that accompanied my motherboard, anticipating it would install all necessary components (as I am still gaining a deeper understanding of computing). However, this proved to be detrimental, significantly slowing down my PC, particularly during gaming, and now I’m experiencing low frame rates despite having updated drivers. My system specifications are as follows: CPU - Ryzen 5 2400G (featuring Vega 11 integrated graphics), Motherboard – B450M MSI Gaming Plus (the driver disk was intended for this board), RAM – Viper 4 3000 MHz 16GB DDR4, and Power Supply – Corsair CX450M.
I'm using a MSI software to update according to the software it said it was fully up to date while running poorly, since then i deleted those drivers and reinstalled the ones directly from the site and im still receiving lower fps, even my core temperatures are lower (I checked my overclock and nothing changed) should that be a concern?
The text discusses obtaining updated drivers for a motherboard, specifically the MSI B450M-GAMING-PLUS. It highlights that drivers often become outdated quickly after a new model is released, and advises users to download the latest drivers directly from MSI's website. The original text also includes a disclaimer about the uselessness of the included motherboard documentation.
That’s a really complex situation! It sounds like you've been troubleshooting quite extensively, trying to optimize performance by adjusting the clock speeds. To clarify, you’re essentially saying that after manually increasing the clock speed (overclocking) in an attempt to improve gaming performance, it hasn’t yielded the desired results – specifically, it didn’t restore the original level of performance.
To help me understand your situation better and suggest potential next steps, could you tell me a bit more about:
* **The specific hardware involved?** (e.g., Graphics card model, CPU model, RAM)
* **What kind of games are you trying to run?** (e.g., Titles, resolution settings, graphics options)
* **What troubleshooting steps have you already taken beyond overclocking?** (e.g., Driver updates, Windows updates, checking for hardware conflicts, running diagnostics)
my CPU max temp is lower than it use to be even with a higher overclock
CPU temp - 45C idle, 69C Max (It use to be around 35-40C idle and 80C max)
(i have integrated graphics and i cant see the temp but it maxes out)
I'm not sure how to check my ram usage specifically (still new to my own computer) But my disk and/or my memory would max out, not sure if thats important or not
Full storage capacity and RAM usage can be problematic. Remove the MSI applications obtained through that disc.
Do you have any additional programs installed beyond the ones included on the disc? Such as torrent clients, or perhaps an excessive number of antivirus or anti-malware tools?
I’ve only installed the included software from the disc, the latest drivers, and standard gaming applications.
EDIT - I became frustrated with the problem; my computer repeatedly prevented me from deleting files because they were in use and unresponsive, making deletion impossible.
Therefore, I performed a complete data reset, and so far performance has improved significantly, especially with less intensive games. My CPU temperature is now much closer to its initial setting (and both the hard drive and RAM aren't reaching maximum capacity).
Thank you for your assistance – it’s greatly appreciated. I’ve experienced this issue for some time but haven’t had the opportunity to address it until recently.
