Hey there, just checking in to see if anyone has any tips for my ASUS ROG G17 3060 laptop. It’s got a Ryzen 4800H, which I think is decent for a laptop but with a low TDP. Lately, I’ve been seeing much lower FPS in some games, especially CPU-heavy ones like Squad and War Thunder, averaging 40-50 FPS instead of what I expect. I’m wondering if this is just a laptop CPU issue or if there’s something I can do to fix it. I cleaned out the dust from the fans and swapped in a 36GB 3600MHz RAM stick. Should I try overclocking to boost performance, or is there another way? Also, my Task Manager shows the CPU usage is usually low, so it might just be the games using only one core. Thanks in advance for any advice! P.S.
This problem appears to be fresh. Review your system metrics, monitor CPU and GPU temperatures and activity during gameplay. Consider using MSI Afterburner.
War thunder has arrived, and the team has been running at 25-40 frames per second for some time. Temperatures are typically between 85 and 94 degrees, which is normal for a laptop. The GPU hasn't hit its limit; it's usually the CPU that struggles.
Check the newest chipset drivers here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/...le-chipset
For the iGPU driver on that Ryzen: https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-r...en-7-4800h
Get the latest Nvidia driver: https://www.nvidia.co.uk/download/driver...4409/en-uk
Find the most recent BIOS for your laptop.
Sure, a lot of CPUs will slow down around 85°C. It seems the temperature is already quite high, even with a cooling pad. Consider getting a laptop cooler or lowering the CPU voltage if you can.
I checked the details and confirmed temperatures should stay below 88°F. For a budget-friendly cooling pad under $50, there are some good options available. Let me know if you need more suggestions!
Yes, the IGPU drivers still play a role even with the dedicated 3060 graphics card.
Switch the effect from the iGPU to the dedicated one. Also, think about using a better charger for your laptop model.
