Suggest using this as a benchmark to evaluate a defaulted UEFI with only DOCP active, ensuring any undervolting doesn’t hinder performance.
5800x3D lacks PBO features, which is exclusive to 7000x3D. This is why I usually avoid undervolting on 5800x3D—it’s built for straightforward DOCP control. There was an instance where it briefly included PBO by chance during an upgrade from my 3950x on a ROG x570 Impact board. It essentially turned off itself within about a week.
I refreshed my profile and now the PBO feature is available, though it only offers Auto or Advanced settings. I thought Auto would be off when using Auto mode. After removing any undervolting adjustments, I ran a Cinebench test and achieved 14266. That’s a noticeable improvement in raw performance. I was worried the cooler might struggle without proper voltage, which is why I started with it.
The challenge with undervolting often lies in self-limiting performance; understanding a stable baseline and checking stability across different settings provides the full picture. Over the past decade, modern CPUs don't consistently indicate instability from overclocking—they may simply reduce speed to avoid overheating if they boot up successfully.
