In short, your issue is that you're experiencing a massive drop in frame rate from 50-80fps to around 20fps, especially when using Freesync. Despite having a decent PC specs like an i7-4790k and 16GB RAM, the game is lagging. This could be due to settings or performance bottlenecks.

Adjust your settings to medium for higher CPU usage, keep post-processing low, and set textures to medium. For your computer, consider installing MSI Afterburner to monitor GPU temperatures—this might identify throttling issues. This approach could be useful, as it worked for me.

Consider adjusting the balance of settings for better stability. There might be advice about screen scaling and FPS problems that could help.

I also tested 1920x1080, which worked fine most of the time but now appears five times blurrier 😅

If it's possible I would take of the panel of your case, as it adds more airflow but it might not work for you But the temps are fine so I don't think it's that.

I haven't tried any changes yet. Would you like me to adjust the settings now?

Sure, it performed better with lower settings. I ran some quick tests and noticed the FPS varied based on the difficulty level.

I've got roughly 50 to 60 items, each meeting the minimum requirements and running at up to 1.4GHz on a Titan X Maxwell with OC enabled. Everything is at full capacity except the foliage, which stays low even after recent updates. I had to lower the screen scale to 100 because it dropped around 10 frames.
