Low FPS on American Truck Simulator
Low FPS on American Truck Simulator
Search for a consistent benchmark in the game. Gather data on CPU load, GPU usage, and FPS across the different settings you mentioned: max graphics, min graphics, lowest display resolution, and lowest possible display resolution. Ideally, this should help you understand what's happening with your GT640 under these conditions.
If needed, consider reinstalling your GPU drivers—especially Logitech—and the display driver using a uninstaller tool. This might resolve any issues causing excessive CPU usage when pushing performance limits.
Thank you for your response. I'll wait to see the results and will try to share them as soon as possible. I've already removed the GPU drivers using the display driver uninstaller, reinstalled them with the latest stable version available, and tested the game without the wheel connected—consistent FPS performance.
Hi, after adjusting the game settings over the weekend, I found a decent configuration. Here’s what I did: 1.) Launched the game using the Directx launch option (I hadn’t tried any other methods before). 2.) Applied the basic preset settings and chose ULTRA. 3.) Turned off MLAA and Pedestrian filters; kept everything else unchanged since I didn’t see any impact on FPS. Now it runs smoothly at around 60 FPS outside towns, dropping to 45-55 in urban areas. For my situation, that’s quite acceptable. One observation is that FPS rarely exceeds 60—quite unusual. Thanks for the assistance, Manikyath!
