I'm having trouble keeping these games running smoothly at medium to high settings with the FPS fluctuating between 100 and 20, while other titles stay steady around 50-60 FPS on medium to high.

It seems like performance dropped in some titles when using an i7 920 instead of an i7 920i7. In games like CS:GO, you're seeing around 60 FPS on the i7 compared to about 144 FPS on the newer model.
