"low fps" in valorant
"low fps" in valorant
Hi.
my configuration:
rtx 3080
ryzen 9 3900xt
4x8 3600mhz ddr4
my question: why do i only reach about 180 fps at 1440p, while others with similar gear hit around 300? the odd thing is that if i switch to 1080p, my frames stay the same.
High FPS relies heavily on CPU performance. 3900XT is certainly strong, but not the quickest for gaming. What exactly are you measuring against?
Alright, were you noticing comparable boost clocks on both the CPU and GPU? Temperatures were within range? (They used the 3900XT at 4.3Ghz, likely all cores since OC was marked at the end.) I didn't find a detailed list of settings beyond Reflex On/Off. The game seemed quite basic overall, with textures and other details turned off. In the video, I saw high numbers, but it's hard to judge smooth gameplay from that footage. Bouncing up to 400FPS is fine when nothing is on screen, though it dropped during action. I'm not very familiar with Valorant, so I can't say if this was a limited match compared to typical play. For a fair comparison, the same map and conditions would be needed. They mentioned in comments that it was definitely a CPU bottleneck under all tests, only reaching 90% GPU usage with Reflex on at 4K. Another big question is whether it used PCIe 3.0 or 4.0—this depends on your motherboard and theirs.
i don't need the 400fps but 240 would be great. have a new monitor arriving this week and want to be ready.
i've overclocked my cpu in bios to 4.3 at 1.34v.
my 3080 is running at +150mhz and +300mhz.
for the test i'm using the same gamemode, map, and player size as shown in the video.
i also have an x570 aorus elite.
Consider examining your software for any potential inefficiencies. Perhaps adjust the affinity settings on certain programs to cores that aren't heavily utilized during gaming.
how do i accomplish that?
i also noticed my gpu is about 95% used during valorant. is that typical for a game that's mainly on the cpu?
Have you checked the Nvidia control panel for global settings? If it's applying too much pressure, there might be unnecessary adjustments, such as DSR, that you don’t need. When examining software that’s using system resources, Task Manager offers limited insight. Anti-malware solutions could help determine if someone is exploiting your system for remote mining. Generally, it’s wise to disable any programs you aren’t actively using, especially during gaming, to achieve optimal performance.
most apps are turned off by default, so I only use what I need when I want it.
