Low FPS in Far Cry 4 even at 1366x768 resolution is normal?
With a Ryzen 7 1700, 8x2GB DDR4 RAM, Sapphire RX 570 8GB, a 120GB/240GB SSD, and Seasonic M12II EVO 520w power supply, what FPS should I realistically expect? I'm experiencing significant frame rate drops even on low settings, making it difficult to play the game effectively on my 1366x768 monitor, and I was anticipating a smoother gaming experience with my current hardware.
That game is very old. Older hardware can max it and achieve 60FPS. A 7970 GHz could run it on Ultra at 1920x1200 with an i7 4770K. Consider trying this: https://forums.ubisoft.com/showthread.ph...-4!-Forums. I recommend using supersampling, running the game at a higher resolution and then rendering it on screen at a lower one. How to Run PC Games at Resolutions Higher Than Your Monitor with Supersampling. The ideal resolution for a PC game is often “Whatever your monitor can support.”
Currently, I cannot provide an update regarding this as I am re-downloading the game due to uninstalling it in frustration. However, I can confirm that my CPU is running at its default frequency and has not been overclocked. My RX 570's core clock is set to 1244, and the memory clock is at 1750. I admit my technical knowledge is limited; I hope the information above addresses your request. I will update you with temperature and load data after reinstalling the game. Thank you.
I have returned with results. Last time, despite using the lowest settings, I experienced poor frame rates. Consequently, I reinstalled the game and configured it for ultra settings with VSync enabled and motion blur disabled. This resulted in a maximum FPS of 60 and a minimum FPS consistently above 30. My GPU usage fluctuates significantly, sometimes reaching high levels (99%-100%) and at other times dropping to 14% or even 0%, before returning to 100%. The GPU temperature remains consistently below 60 degrees Celsius. My CPU usage averages between 20% and 30%, rarely exceeding 30 degrees Celsius. I am concerned about the current FPS due to two factors: 1. View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGDUW9-tSo4 2.
In my previous response, I included a link to an individual running the game at 1080p on ultra settings with an i3 CPU and GPU identical to mine, along with 8GB of RAM that frequently results in 90 FPS. I am concerned about my performance at 1366x768 resolution, even with Vsync capping the game to 60 FPS – a figure I shouldn't be encountering, considering my superior CPU and RAM compared to the individual cited.
