Played the game for a while now, my PC feels a bit outdated: 8700k @4.8, MSI 2070, 16gb 3200, 1tb NVMe SSD. Just started Arma Reforger and hoped for better FPS. I'm seeing averages between 40-45 with really low frames and stutters. At medium settings in 1440p, I've used DDU, updated drivers, installed the latest BIOS, swapped the motherboard and card bios. The GPU is running at full CPU capacity around 25-40%. RAM usage looks decent at 10gb. Curious what others are experiencing and if anyone has tips before I consider a reset? Thanks in advance.
It’s a highly inefficient game, improving is likely the best option unless you’re okay with using basic settings.
When the GPU reaches full capacity, it strongly suggests the GPU is the bottleneck. Lowering the resolution to 720p may improve performance, and if the frame rate increases significantly, a replacement GPU might be necessary for better results at those settings.
You seem to be struggling with CPU performance, especially around 2070. It looks like you're considering an older Intel processor, possibly near Pentium levels. The latest Nvidia drivers are causing significant problems right now. Consider using a model with a version number between 500 and 566. (Run DDU in safe mode, even if you've tried before.)
I would replace the thermal paste or pads on the existing 2070. It wouldn't hurt. The thermal layer seems worn out and dry. Likely, a 2070 in today's standards is quite outdated. Running at 1440P is tough, especially with your graphics card not running at 1080i speeds. A quick online search will show you that 1080 users play Arma Reforged on lower settings.
