Low fps
Low fps
I've played pubg, it performed well with about 70-90 fps. The task manager indicates valorant uses the mx450, matching pubg, yet valorant doesn't exceed 20% usage. At 1920x1200 I maintained the same fps, except at 720p or below. When I went to 2k the fps dropped to around 60, but it stayed steady at fullhd. Sounds weird though—I know.
The way you’re handling the resolution while keeping FPS steady usually points to a CPU limitation. If one core stays at full capacity it can cause this problem. An 11th gen i5 is quite powerful, and performance issues aren’t likely due to CPU load alone. Others have mentioned temperatures, so inadequate cooling might lead to thermal throttling. This is why people ask about temperatures—poor cooling could affect stability.
What’s the screen refresh rate? Also, are you using V-Sync in Valorant?
Well, V-sync is disabled and my monitor runs at 90Hz. Thanks for the clarification! My old laptop had a 7700HQ which was slower, but it worked fine during Valorant. Could it really be the CPU if my new one is supposed to be faster? I wonder why Lenovo would include a CPU in their laptops—it seems like a bottleneck.
Concerning the CPU bottleneck, an i5 1135G7 should outperform a 7700HQ in both single and multi-thread tasks, though not significantly (both 4-core 8-thread models and the older 7700HQ have higher power limits that somewhat offset the i5's newer design). The newer model shouldn't be underperforming either (provided memory and graphics are comparable or better on the i5 configuration). To confirm, please check if you're connected to a power source or using battery. It's interesting your monitor refresh rate is 90... You might want to adjust V-Sync settings in the NVIDIA control panel or within the game, as it could be forced by the system.
I have disabled the vsync in the NVIDIA control panel and everything is functioning correctly. Thank you very much!
