For any title, 60 frames per second is the baseline. I may lower settings if necessary. Notice the loss of fluidity once it falls below 50 fps—it disrupts the experience. Brief drops to 50 or around 40 are okay as long as they're infrequent. I pushed through Dark Souls 1 at 30 fps solely because the game was exceptional. Now I’m trying again, but it’s tough. If the game runs smoothly without screen tearing, I use Vsync; if there’s any tearing, I enable it. I definitely don’t tolerate screen tearing.
Yeah, it's frustrating. Running on Linux (hope amdgpu-pro works there). Turn-based games are fine at 20 FPS, but I'm leaning toward VSync. My PC isn't powerful enough—sometimes Witcher 3 drops to 20 FPS in Novigrad at low resolution. Some other titles run smoothly at 30-40 FPS.
