The text discusses optimizing game performance, specifically addressing lag caused by excessive detail in a strategy game. It identifies the core issue as CPU load due to factors like unit shadows, building details, and particle effects. The author explains that while the GPU handles visual quality (resolution, textures), the CPU is responsible for rendering individual elements and their interactions – essentially, tracking every object’s unique properties and animations. This creates a bottleneck when numerous units are on screen, leading to inconsistent frame rates. The text suggests adjusting settings like shadows, unit size, and building detail to reduce the CPU's workload, highlighting that even powerful GPUs can be limited by the sheer number of calculations required for complex game elements.

Here’s a rewritten version of the text, focusing on clarity and flow:

I'm experiencing some performance issues while playing Grand Theft Auto V. My frame rates fluctuate significantly depending on what I'm doing – they average around 50-100 FPS when looking at open environments, but drop to 90-70 FPS when viewing detailed scenes like cars or buildings. The GPU usage spikes to 80-98% during these demanding moments, which correlates with the frame rate drops. My CPU temperature reaches 65°C and my GPU peaks at 70-75°C, indicating that thermal throttling isn't a factor.

Interestingly, CPU utilization changes depending on the view. It rises to 30-35% when looking down on the ground, but jumps to 10% when observing cars and AI traffic, and decreases to 20% in open areas. The GPU usage mirrors this pattern – 90% for detailed scenes versus 80% for wider views.

I conducted a benchmark at the beginning of the game, achieving an average of 70 FPS with 40% CPU utilization and 90% GPU utilization. Recently, I also played Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS 2) on Berlin. My CPU cores were running at their maximum speeds of 3.7 GHz, but only one core consistently operated at 60%, fluctuating between 20% and 50%. This uneven core usage seems to be a separate issue that I'd like to investigate further.

This is popular problem of GTA V and
this
is one from many YouTube video about fix it. I'm think you are waiting and get good drivers for new GPU from Radeon, but not now ... But your stats this is 60+ for almost time, ultra settings and some problem. This is good and not big problem ... But this is only my opinion =)

I watched a youtube video benchmarking GTA V where the game is being ran by r5 2600 (40c) and rx 5700 xt with his settings.
View: https://youtu.be/gUhbL4Eg8O0
On a certain place on GTA V he got the result of I think 130 fps average on his specs. His character is running down the street
And now I tried to go to that "certain place", I got 120 fps but when I tried to run down the street too, my fps slowly goes down to 90 (not stable like his. It's weird that he is getting a stable fps by running to that point)
This is my msi afterburner result.

Somehow I suspect my temp because it is different from his. I'm using a stock cooler while he's using an A.F cooler. And my cpu speed is different from his too.

GPU load on this video 90-99% and this is limit from GPU. CPU can be more with good cooler, but only with new GPU ... (You CPU temp is 67C and this is <95C and not problem with limit) On yours picture GPU only 80% load and good FPS is 122 ... I'm think you can set equal settings and use all
software
advise one by one ... from my previos link, from
kerberos_20
and other becouse i'm think this is not hardware broblem - only software problem with specific settings.

I already tried it but it still fps goes down when there is something big needed to render, like cities and cars.

I envy those people who are getting stable fps.

I ran the game immediately without tweaking anything, achieving 207 FPS and a score of 5215 with minimal frame drops. Adjusting settings resulted in lower FPS (137 and 128) and scores (3468 and 3231), respectively, alongside increased minimum frame rates and different render modes including 4xAA and 8xAA. The extreme tweaks yielded the lowest FPS at 128 but maintained a consistent minimum of 9.3 FPS. The game was rendered using Direct3D11 in 1920x1080 or 1600x900 fullscreen modes with varying quality and tessellation settings.

Absolutely!

Let's continue with this thought experiment.
