Low CPU and GPU are both working well on CS GO with a 6800XT card
Hey guys, First of all, I know CSGO is a cpu running game, hence I wonder about this, In general, my cpu utilisation locked at 20-28% while my GPU utilisation fluctuates between 60-80% occasionally hit above 90%. Both hotspot and GPU temp never hit above 58’C, while CPU temp range between 47-55'C My System B550f Gaming Wifi2 Rog Strix Tuf 6800xt Ryzen 5600x EVGA G5 850w Corsair LPX 16gb 4000cl16 @ 3800mhz CL16 Monitor Gigabyte G27Q 144hz QHD So today is the first time I play CSGO, casual gamer, new to gaming rig, GPU is not overclocked, CPU boosted 100mhz. After a couple hours playing CSGO, I was curious how my system runs, not that it encountered issue, but I just checked. Setting runs high - very high by default, I didn't change a thing. Game runs super smooth… at 380-399fps in average, very occasionally will go to 280-320fps in busy environment . It feels like there's a limiter that's hit, like it won't go beyond 400fps, not that it is an issue as my monitor only 144hz too, just curious. What could that be? I remember a mate uses 3060ti, same CPU 5600x, 16gb 3200mhz memory, once told me he got if not 350 400fps playing cs go. My curiosity peaked, I checked online, most online references mention that my system 6800xt with 5600x should be getting 500+ fps playing CSGO. Is this normal? Should I just ignore the low utilisation? Well, I don’t have problem once again but very curious, why some people be getting 500-580fps? CPU bottleneck? I don't think so, I compared my outcome to other 5600x results, and most importantly, I got very good RAM here, my CPU benchmark no matter where I tested it, produced above normal results at its frequency and boost. So, I feel confused as in why I am not getting the FPS like what people mentioned online, could be in game configuration? graphic setting related, no? The other games I played so far: Flight Simulator , 1440p ULTRA setting, all ultra I got fps above expectation, averaging 67-80fps, even sometimes 80+ fps. Compared to what people said online, from howmanyfps.com, from YouTube benchmarkers, I'm happy PUBG , 1440p ultra setting, this too, got at least the same to what people said online, from benchmarkers and other gamers, I am happy, I think I even got like 5-7% more than typical online results. Both games above utilised my GPU pretty much all in. Timespy Extreme, Timespy, all runs above expectation, super happy. Also, my CPU runs normal too, as mentioned previously, single core benchmark 1550-1570 and multicore 11,800-12,000 points at Cinebench r23 Benchmark results are as follow: https://photos.app.goo.gl/HJEe1nzNEZe17FZ99 https://photos.app.goo.gl/44cWet3McFW8sqKn7 https://photos.app.goo.gl/hngUpxVVzLkKyAjg6 https://photos.app.goo.gl/Roe6SCJwNJNQngxh6 As per benchmark results, performance on other games, I am simply curious! My adrenaline display and graphic setting https://photos.app.goo.gl/hugyT6vMZ1j2NZr89 https://photos.app.goo.gl/ct82MkEWAi3AuPFD7 https://photos.app.goo.gl/g5uiFudSWFH2ENfP7 No matter using e sport, standard, standard with anti-lag, all the same... Thanks for stopping by!! I hope I could get some sort of explanation here… not that I want more overthrown FPS, but I wanna learn.
I just don't think you are reading too much into this. A higher frame rate does improve input lag, but 350 fps is way too high. If you have a 60Hz monitor, most of your frames are wasted. Regarding PUGB, I use an RTX 1080 and get 80 to 110 at medium or high settings with good graphics usage on a 4K screen. So I would say you are getting the best possible performance here. There is nothing wrong with your system. Edit: Typos fix needed.
Thanks so much for the reply mate. Yeah, I think it's really likely nothing wrong with my system. I even tried to set a FPS limiter because I knew that would make my GPU run near idle and stop the fans spinning at all 😂 Honestly, all I need is around 144fps or maybe up to 240fps max since VRR and FreeSync are both turned on. That's what made me check the FPS numbers after you said it should be higher. So, being a complete noob who just wants to learn something new, I kinda want to know what makes this different from what most people claim a 6800xt can do in CS:GO. Even though as soon as I figure out why? I'll apply an FPS limit for this game because I love playing Dead Silent on my system like it is PUBG, but I played it on my 6700xt for a few days and got about 160-180fps at high settings. Then on my 6800xt, I believe I hit over 200fps+ and the game used my GPU while fans spun hard and the clock went up. On Ultra setting with all those upscales, I thought it was somewhere around 140-160fps but I forgot the exact number since I only played for two days on the 6800xt. Realised that the GPU runs really well now, so I uninstalled the game 😂 And didn't like it here in Aus because there are way too many bots. Not as popular as before
I limit myself to 143 frames per second, which stops the Vsync from activating but keeps Gsync running too. It also depends on your CPU because one core can only handle a certain number of frames at once, so eventually it will slow things down there. Always something slows things down. The lower the resolution, the bigger this problem gets.
actually, when I checked my own CPU test scores, they were great and didn't look like drama. 😂 That's why I'm so curious about this. I wish someone with an AMD GPU had tried the same thing to help me know what changes to make in settings or menus. It makes me very curious but not enough to spend hours tweaking every setting because most people already get high FPS, hahaha. You're right, there is a bottleneck now, and I'm aware of it: my 5600X is the one slowing down the 6800XT at lower resolutions, but only by about 3% or 5%, and even then at QHD/UHD it barely matters since a better card would give more FPS anyway. Cheers!
