Hi there, this is my PC: 5950x completely stock with latest AMD chipset drivers on Windows 10 Pro Noctua NH-U12A cooler ASRock x570M Pro4 with P3.50 UEFI (latest with AGESA 1.2.0.2) 32 GB DDR 3600 GTX 1070 (not relevant here) After switching to the 5950x two months ago, I suspected low clocks. Now I finally found the time to run some benchmarks. It seems that the singlecore boost clock reaches at most 4.7 GHz. With multicore the cores settle in at only 3.7 GHz. Neither are limited by temperature, which never exceeds 75°C. From what I'm reading elsewhere I should be getting 4.9 GHz singlecore boost and 3.9 GHz on multicore. What is limiting my CPU? I tried both with and without AMDs precision boost, it didn't make any noticeable difference. Is it limited by power somehow? Any pointers would be helpful. Thanks so much! Cinebench isn't the optimal measure here. It's a more extended evaluation and doesn't truly push the CPU to its limits. Consider using CPU-Z, Prime95, or FurMark for a more accurate assessment of peak performance.

This CPU is incredibly powerful for its compact size, so I may need to increase its performance slightly.

You're likely referring to the U12S. Its performance is quite similar to a D15.

It's surprising how things behave under different workloads. Running a single thread on P95 causes the temperature to rise sharply to 90°C and the system starts throttling. On multithreaded tasks, all 16 cores can reach at least 4.4 GHz now, which seems impressive. I didn’t expect my U12A to struggle with just one fully boosted core.

It's surprising how things behave under different workloads. Running a single thread on P95 causes the temperature to rise sharply to 90°C and the system starts throttling. On multithreaded tasks, all 16 cores can reach at least 4.4 GHz now, which seems impressive. I didn’t expect my U12A to struggle with just one fully boosted core.

It's a huge cooling unit, but the fans reach their maximum speed of 2k RPM which could cause a problem

Prime95 demands significantly more processing power than normal tasks require. Elevated temperatures there don't always indicate practical benefits. Zen 3 tends to overheat overall. You might consider adjusting the voltage with a curve optimizer to improve thermal management; it generally leads to better results.
