I cleaned up after Christmas and reorganized my office when I found my wife’s Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. My child had a great Christmas, but we spent that money on him instead. I’ve never tried anything before—just used a phone. I wanted to try a Rift but downloaded Vridex and got it running. No glasses needed; it worked fine. I connected my PC to the phone via WiFi, turned my PC into a hotspot, and the phone connected with a speed of 780 Mbps. Both devices support wireless AC. USB tethering doesn’t seem possible on a Samsung phone without a data plan. I’m planning to use my old Xbox 360 Kinect for motion tracking. I haven’t set it up yet, but Steam’s Google Earth VR worked well on the Samsung with a bitrate of 25 Mbps. Should I be able to run the Kinect on Steam alongside Vridex? Right now I know my old Optiplex GPU is outdated (AMD R7 350) and I have a decent PSU and an AMD RX 570. I’m not a gamer anymore, but I’ve seen it work at low settings—around 30 fps—and my kid doesn’t complain. I’m trying to assemble a PC that can handle anything, but until I find the right deals, it’s just not happening.

As usual, I pose questions that most people ignore. My focus isn’t on the forum; my thoughts drift too much. Still, I’m going ahead and purchasing the phone goggles and the Kinect adapter. I’ll check how it works. If everything connects smoothly, I’ll move on to a GPU and PSU. I’ll share updates later.
