: Low BCLK with high multiplier?
: Low BCLK with high multiplier?
Have you considered reducing BCLK and boosting the multiplier? Any results? For instance, using 60Mhz BCLK with a 70x multiplier could reach 4.5Ghz instead of 100MHz with a 45x multiplier. The benefit of a lower BCLK would be a broader frequency range and reduced power usage during idle times. There might be some downsides, but they need to be tested. I'm looking into Skylake and newer chipsets where BCLK only impacts the CPU, cache, and RAM.
there are additional components in the system relying on this clock speed aside from the cpu. it helps coordinate various parts like ram and others. I haven’t seen it before, but I don’t know how a low clock rate might affect the rest of the setup. These related elements may need to adjust too, and there’s much more to think about than just the cpu’s role.
