I improved my Win 7 Pro to 10 Pro, turned everything on, then reinstalled Windows 10 and activated again. About two days later it prompts me to activate Windows once more. What’s going on? Anyone else experienced this issue? Also, does pausing the Windows Update actually stop the update process, or does it still work?

Did you modify your system by any means during the upgrade to a fresh installation? Did you overlook installing a driver after the upgrade, and now that you’ve cleaned the installation, you added the driver yourself? As a result, Windows has noticed the hardware changes and has adjusted its settings accordingly. You still have no option but to perform a clean install of your previous Windows version, install all necessary drivers, activate it, update it, and then reinstall Windows 10.

We moved forward with the plan. The updated version of Windows 10 began showing activation, but after two days of the same installation, it stopped activating altogether—this doesn’t seem right.

Have you attempted to turn on Windows? Have you tried phone activation? Have you used Microsoft support? (Select: Support in Cortana, then choose "Contact Support").
