I’ve experienced problems with my D-link DWA 131 Nano USB adapter losing internet connection. It functions normally until I apply a load, like downloading or uploading. When streaming YouTube, only about 10 seconds play, and the download speed plummets to zero according to network stats. Downloading other files works for a short time before speed drops again. In CMD pings work briefly but then packets stop being sent to Google. My router shows an IP address, and after using the troubleshooter it seems to resolve the issue temporarily. Once fixed, I regain about 10 seconds of connectivity before it crashes again. I’ve installed every available driver from D-Links, but nothing resolves the problem. It doesn’t seem to be my computer since a phone tether works perfectly.

It might be the D-Link adapter. Based on what I've seen, USB WiFi adapters often cause problems that can't be easily fixed. The safest option is to install a WiFi card into your computer.

Honestly, maybe I’ll just accept it as part of being an X-mass person, too tired to try fixing it.

Additionally, power transmission might become inconsistent on that USB connection.
