Yeah, im finally going back around on this because it finally got on my nerves, with my increased load and Fortnite still having one of if not the worst optimization in memory usage. ICYMI, i decided to add 2 extra sticks of RAM on my system, totaling to 4x16 of Team T-Create 3200MHz C16 RAM. At first the issue was that this is a mismatched DRAM chip, with the original first kit being Hynix DJR and the second kit being Samsung C-Die chip, creating a mismatch of performance that caused me to be unable to overclock the RAM and also corrupted my Windows install in the process. That is fine, i could just use the DOCP profile and get my windows reinstalled, but after all of that i was stuck with my system being unable to use the extra 16 gigs now available. I could confirm it by limiting to 16mb pagefile, and then fill it up with my work. Immediately crashes above 16GB of usage. But the odd thing is is that TestMem5 and OCCT RAM stress test can use the full 32 gigs inside of task manager. At this point im not sure if its hardware or software issue, here's what ive done during this past year with this issue: Reinstall Windows Swapping kits from one slot to the other, in various mutations Reseating the CPU Trying various software trick on Windows to force it to use the 32GB like pagefile edit or windows compression algorithm I wouldnt mind reinstalling Windows again (really a good excuse to probably try a bunch of the rule books that exists for W11 24H1, open for recommendation if they dont disable Windows Defender products), but at this point im really not sure what is wrong and how i could resolve it. Im open for more suggestion once again, thanks. Other Specs: Ryzen 5 5500 RX 6700XT MSI B450-A PRO
These might be two additional sticks. You should likely be able to send them back to the store free of charge for a refund or swap. Alternatively, you can purchase another pair of identical sticks matching what you currently own, or opt to buy two 16GB sticks and discard the ones you already have. Good luck!
Mismatched sticks often cause issues because of IC compatibility problems. Usually it's not a major concern, but some pairs just don't work well together due to differences like timing requirements, PC specifications, voltage needs, and so on. Sadly, this seems to be the situation we described earlier. Even though you're tight on funds, sometimes you have no choice but to proceed as is. Try to do better when possible.
They refer to the same type of DRAM chips from the same manufacturer. These aren't two completely different collections. Including or excluding details shouldn't come across as disrespectful. I'm aiming to assist effectively, but I understand when it's better to direct help elsewhere. Wishing you a pleasant day!
It's really just two incompatible kits that malfunction when all four are connected. They have an unusual sudo stability feature, which then leads to more problems later on because this stability allows for even worse crashes. Plus, the Ryzen memory controller tends to dislike having four sticks at higher speeds, making things even worse. You did your best, but the issue is that RAM can't work together properly on your system. The fix is to avoid using them together and opt for a 32GB kit in two 16GB modules instead.
I need to let you know I was a bit abrupt in my response. It was just an instinct when I saw the double feature of answers—none of which I needed or wanted. It mostly works perfectly at 100% capacity under stress. I got what you meant about memory usage. This configuration handles all 32 units flawlessly, thanks to solid Windows memory management. It’s not that I’m trying to change it; I can’t figure out why it’s refusing to use all of it. I haven’t tried the stock profile or used full memory yet. I’ll give it another go and update in the comments later.
Its as simple as that. Windows is freaking out and even tho memory tests come clean just means the memory itself works. However that doesnt mean the memory works togheter. Youve done all the testing and the nail in the coffin is rhat the kits work on their own but do not work togheter properly. Thats it there is nothing left to be done you just have 2 working kits that are not compatible. Its as simple as that. This happens a lot and its why memory replacement is often adviced over memory addition
