I recently replaced the water pump on my ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (WI-FI) X570. After finishing the job, I noticed a flashing light and tried to clear the lines, but I couldn’t find any instructions in the manual. It’s been around 3 years since I built it, so I’m not sure how long it’s been running. Any advice would be really helpful...
It seems the system is likely directing data movement from the drive to the motherboard, but the output appears harmless and non-threatening.
ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO indicates activity via LED signals during data operations on the storage device or its add-on card.
Perhaps a glimpse from the hard drive LED? The flickering pattern matches typical behavior of such LEDs, and the faint glow makes me wonder if it’s just a reflection. I’m not sure it’s a spark... Here’s a diagram of your motherboard from the manual. The arrows indicate where I suspect the reflection is happening.
The arc appears in colors like white or blue, usually steady, but can show a red flashing pattern—possibly from an activity LED or its reflection. Unless there are lithium salts or strontium burning, the color won’t be that intense.
