I’m going to swap out the two fans in my laptop (MSI GP75 Leopard) and refinish both the CPU and GPU. Thermal issues have been a problem, and one fan is still rattling even after cleaning. I’ve selected the fans but need advice on the best thermal paste for optimal performance on both components. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Standard high-quality thermal materials behave similarly over small temperature changes. For better performance in a laptop setting, I’d choose an electrically insulating option such as Arctic Silver’s polysynthetic ceramic or Noctua’s NT-H1.

Consider using NT-H2 or an alternative. Avoid direct die from NT-H1 on laptop CPUs. Certain pastes that perform well on desktops with built-in heat spreaders may not hold up under the high temps typical of modern laptop CPUs.
