Hello everyone,
I’m thinking about enhancing my editing PC. It’s been five years since I installed it, and it has performed admirably. I think it’s the right time to improve its performance.

As a professional designer and editor, my new build must satisfy certain requirements—stability, strong performance, and good value for money.

For example, I won’t be spending an additional €500/$ on a better CPU just for a slight speed gain of 5-10%; that’s not my main concern.
Right now, I have an Intel Core i7-9700K, 64GB DDR4 RAM, and an RTX 2070. I’m looking to replace my aging CPU with an Intel i9-13900K and switch to a new 64GB DDR5 RAM package. I intend to retain my RTX 2070, as it seems suitable for video editing; Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects don’t fully leverage its potential.

On the other side, AMD options seem attractive. But all my past builds were Intel-based, and I’m not very familiar with which AMD CPU could match the i9-13900K.

Regarding cooling, I’m curious whether a liquid cooler is necessary or if my existing Noctua D15 can manage the Intel i9-13900K.
Any advice or suggestions would be very helpful.

What are your overall impressions of these upgrades? Would you consider them worthwhile, or would you suggest any changes?

Please share your thoughts on the specs I provided for reference:
CPU: Intel i9-13900K
Cooler: Noctua D15
GPU: RTX 2070
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 64GB DDR5 RAM (3500 MHz)
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 Gaming X

Please list the specs to your current build like so: CPU: CPU cooler: Motherboard: Ram: SSD/HDD: GPU: PSU: Chassis: OS: Monitor: include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. How soon will you be looking to make the upgrade? We essentially need info asked of in this thread; *How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice* How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice First off, respect where respect is due - this is an adaptation of the Animal's *How To Ask For New Build Advice* Sticky. I created this because there's a lot of posts nowadays asking for upgrade advice both on here and on the CPU forums, and I feel... forums.

It is recommended to continue using Intel for quick sync. Upgrading to DDR5 won’t significantly enhance performance. DDR5 versus DDR4: When Should You Consider Upgrading Your RAM? Welcome to the era of DDR5 RAM "However, the improvements in Adobe Photoshop (DDR4-3200 C15 compared to DDR5-6400 C36) and Adobe Premiere (DDR4-3600 C16 versus DDR5-5600 C36) were minimal, less than 1% and 3% respectively." Hardware Suggestions Our workstations for Adobe Premiere Pro have been tested and optimized to deliver top performance and reliability. Check out our hardware recommendations. www.pugetsystems.com I suggest acquiring a 14700k and Z790, reusing your existing RAM and cooler with an LGA 1700 mounting kit. The MSI Z790 Tomahawk DDR4 is an excellent option. A potential upgrade could come from newer PCIe 4.0 M.2 solutions. With a new CPU, motherboard, and SSD, your upgrade is essentially complete. The upcoming 15th generation Intel parts in LGA 1851 are expected mid-2024, promising a substantial performance boost. Please be aware this could take 6 to 8 months. The new generation will use DDR5 and support PCIe 5.0 SSDs. Feel free to share your upgrade budget and location if you need further assistance.

Thank you! I understand your perspective. Maybe waiting a few more months would be best, either for the new Intel CPU or to get a better price on the i9-14900K.
