Microsoft has suddenly confused me as a customer, so I’m considering switching to Linux. I’ve heard gaming performs much better on Linux now compared to earlier years. As someone completely new to Linux, are there any beginner-friendly resources or guides that explain setup steps clearly? Also, what sites help walk through the installation process? Thanks.

This resource is great for setting up Ubuntu 16.04 alongside Windows 10 or 8 in dual boot mode.

Based on your system's age and architecture—whether it's 32-bit or 64-bit—I recommend giving these options a try as a beginner: https://www.ubuntu.com/, https://linuxmint.com/, https://mxlinux.org/, https://q4os.org/

Buntu works well for users, but for beginners I recommend checking out https://www.mageia.org/ or OpenSUSE.

It seems the setup is ideal, the top options are Ubuntu and Manjaro Linux based on your hardware.

Avoid expecting promises or immediate help from Windows-only titles. I rely on Linux every day, yet for most gaming I stick to Windows. On Linux I enjoyed many games like Baldurs Gate or HoMM3 which ran smoothly. Now I play a range of online games from Blizzard or Bethesda launchers and similar platforms.
