Looking to get a new computer that can play games at 4K quality? Here is some simple advice on how to do it.
Hey, I'm putting together a new gaming rig for someone who loves modern games like Assassin's Creed and Doom (latest versions). Here is what we're planning: Case : be quiet! Pure Base 500 Black Motherboard : ASUS TUF Gaming B650-PLUS WIFI CPU : Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU Cooling : Arctic Freezer 36 Graphics Card : Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9070 XT Power Supply : Corsair RM850x (2024 model) Memory : G.Skill Flare X5 F5-6000J3040G32GX2-FX5 Fans : Arctic P14 PWM PST Value Pack, 140mm (5 pieces) Storage : Samsung 990 Pro with heatsink, 2TB The total cost for this build is around €2000. The person I'm building this PC for does not need an AIO CPU cooler. Would this system be good for gaming at 4K resolution, or should I switch to something else? Maybe changing the RAM from 64GB down to 32GB would work better. I really appreciate your help since so many parts come out of nowhere these days and I want everything to fit together perfectly in the system.
On face value, the build looks fine but I'd look at a beefy air cooler, like something from Thermalright or get a 360mm AIO. Ram looks fine as it's meant for AMD's AM5 platform. I would add a smaller capacity SSD preferably 500GB for the OS, app's and launchers while the larger SSD is meant to be your game library drive. The total cost for this build is around € 2000. Is this a good system for gaming at 4K resolution, or would you recommend any changes? Perhaps 32GB of RAM is sufficient instead of 64GB? I created this because there's a lot of posts nowadays asking for upgrade advice both on here and on the CPU forums, and I feel... forums. and the community will chime in with worthwhile suggestions.
Thanks for getting back to me. I'll update my first post soon. I've already been thinking about buying a be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 5 and Noctua NH-D15S Chromax Black for cooling my CPU. The person building this PC doesn't need an AIO cooler.
Here is a PCPartPicker Part List for buying a computer:
The CPU is an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D with 4.7 GHz speed and 8 cores (costs €496 at Amazon Deutschland).
For cooling, I got Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE which gives 66.17 CFM flow rate (€39.90 from Amazon Deutschland).
The motherboard is an MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI that connects to Wi-Fi and supports AM5 socket for the CPU (€189 at Amazon Deutschland).
I have memory with TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert 32 GB using DDR5-6000 speed, stored on two blocks of 16 GB each (€103.47 from Proshop).
My hard drive is a Kingston Fury Renegade 2 TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 solid state disk (€134.90 at Amazon Deutschland).
I bought an XFX Mercury OC RGB Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB graphics card for gaming, which costs €786.15 from notebooksbilliger.de.
The case is a Lian Li LANCOOL 216 ATX mid tower with a nice interior (€104.89 at notebooksbilliger.de).
My power supply comes from Corsair RM850x, which has 850 Watts and is fully modular for easy setup (€142.88 at Amazon Deutschland).
The total cost of all these parts is €1997.19. All prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when they are available. This list was made by PCPartPicker on May 19, 2025 in CEST timezone (+02:00) for the German market.
Warning: The MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI motherboard can work with the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, but I need to update the BIOS version 7D75v1L if my old BIOS is too old and doesn't recognize this processor yet.
