I would like your guidance on improving my PC's performance for smooth operation with Adobe Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro, and After Effects. I'm facing some performance limitations now. Below is an overview of my current setup:

System Details:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X (6 cores, 3.8 GHz base)
Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 GAMING X (ATX)
Memory: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3600
Graphics Card: MSI GTX 1660 Ti (6GB GDDR6)
Storage:
- 480GB SSD for cache files
- 1TB NVMe SSD for programs and games
- 2TB Samsung 870 QVO SSD for project files

When handling 4K video rendering and managing large files in Lightroom and After Effects, my system becomes noticeably slow, particularly during real-time playback and when exporting in Premiere Pro. Even after adjusting the media cache and improving playback settings, these lags are affecting my workflow.

Potential Upgrades:
- Switching to a more powerful graphics card like the RTX 3060 or RX 6700 XT for better GPU acceleration and rendering capabilities.
- Upgrading the CPU to a more capable processor while keeping the current 32GB RAM, which should enhance video editing and multitasking.
- Reorganizing storage by separating active projects from backups and archives, possibly adding more drives or using better management tools.

Questions:
- Should I consider upgrading to the RTX 3060 or RX 6700 XT, or are there other GPUs that might suit my needs better?
- What additional upgrades should I think about alongside a CPU upgrade?
- Is it beneficial to reorganize my storage setup for improved performance?

I value your advice and would appreciate any insights from the community, especially those with experience in Adobe creative workflows. Thank you for your help!

Lightroom is a bit unusual. It doesn’t improve proportionally with each upgrade; it slows down in various areas based on what you’re doing. It’s quite frustrating.
However, considering your hardware specs, I’d suggest starting with the CPU—likely a 5800X or 5900X. Imports and preview creation are mainly CPU-dependent. Avoid the X3D version since it’s actually slower than non-3D options for editing.
A GPU upgrade would help video editors more than Lightroom will. Having extra VRAM is useful for 4K projects; generally, you should aim for at least 4GB for 1080p, 8GB for 4K, and 20GB for 8K.
It seems you’re handling storage well, but there’s always room to expand when it comes to media editing.
Check the resource manager and task manager to identify memory limits and page file usage (including Adobe programs using a scratch disk). This will indicate whether more RAM is needed.

These are all helpful ideas, but I still have a few questions. How can I upgrade my BIOS? Also, is this a good graphics card for video editing? Since I use After Effects a lot and want to learn Blender, would it work well?

Multi-Frame Rendering is being integrated into Adobe After Effects, typically enhancing performance by 2-4 times through better multi-threading. However, its impact on GPU performance remains to be seen.
