It should work initially, and later if you require 32 gb, you can simply replace the 8 GB stick with another 16 GB one.

Thanks everyone for the helpful advice. I'm upgrading to a 16 GB RAM stick, bringing my total to 24 GB. Even if dual-channel isn't supported, I believe it won't cause too many problems. Since I don't play much and already have a GTX 1650, the extra benefit seems limited. Best regards!

I believe opting for 24GB is more beneficial than sticking with 16GB in dual channel. Insufficient RAM usually has a greater effect on performance than whether it's single or dual channel. Mismatched sizes mean only part of the capacity will be fully utilized. Still, it's better than having nothing at all.
