Hi, I just purchased a new Z790 Hero from Amazon. During my check, I noticed some small marks near the socket. Since I haven’t seen anything like this before, I’m curious—will these spots affect its performance? Should I think about returning it? Appreciate your advice!

It seems questionable but looks unusual. It comes with a warranty, yet fixing it to just break down again for a replacement board would be very frustrating. If it were my problem, I’d return it right away to avoid that hassle.

The mark on the right side might have been a Sharpie used for quality checks. The other spots could just be small differences from the black coating applied to the outer PCB. I'm not certain about anything beyond that.

If the board functions, it seems to be a leftover from its manufacturing but came from Amazon. You might contact them for clarification or consider returning it if it bothers you. You can also test it yourself to assess performance—based on past experiences, it appears safe. Keep your receipt or confirmation handy. No visible damage detected, so it likely won't cause issues.

Thanks for answer guys As it turns out, these stains can be removed by a mere finger rub...but I am still suspicious as to why they were there in the first place. I wrote to ASUS and I am currently awaiting their answer, but I am starting to lean towards returning it anyway...
